Welcome to Real Talk with Reginald D. I'm your host, Reginald D.
In today's episode, I'm going to talk about the three most powerful things that purpose is made of. What is purpose? Most people think that purpose is a goal. They think it's the goal they're trying to achieve in life. But let me tell you, it's not that. Purpose declares why you exist. Purpose captures the heart of why you are on this earth and why Jesus died for you. Purpose defines your life, not in terms of what you think, but what God thinks. It anchors your life in the character and call of God. It clarifies the non-negotiable. Your purpose cannot be negotiated. Your purpose is made up of you. You are purpose.
Let me explain it to you this way. Purpose is made from three things, your mindset, your drive, and your wellbeing. You have to understand that God's purpose was to create you with the intent of you living an abundant life. Your life was intended to be fruitful and grow. God's plan is to expand you. That's his plan for you. Now, a lot of people don't grow in life because they don't understand or do what it takes when it comes to working the plan that God has for their life.
Now, the first thing you have to understand when walking in your purpose is your mindset. How you think about things is important. What you think about you is critical. You've got to trust yourself and not think down on yourself. You can't doubt yourself when you are in pursuit of your purpose. You have to make sure that your mind is focused and relentless when you are walking in your purpose. Because here's what purpose does. It helps prioritize your life. It helps your mind understand when to walk away from certain people or certain things that don't serve your purpose. It's the main driver to staying motivated when things get tough.
Now, you have three types of reactive mindsets. You have a complying mindset, controlling mindset, and a protective mindset, which often emerge in high tension situations. You develop these mindsets at an early age to try to cope with difficult situations. But it also builds up mental walls that tells you to play it safe in life, which is putting at limitations on you. You can't limit your life. You can't limit yourself. You got to work through your limitations and it starts with your mindset. What do you think about you? You are the driving force in your life. Take it where you want it to go. Your life is intended to be great. It's intended for you to have an abundant life, but it's all up to you.
Check this out. If you limit yourself, then you limit God. He can't do nothing without you. He's given you the gifts, the talents, and the power to go after the things and achieve what you want out of your life. You have to understand that you have four other mindsets, which is the basic mindsets that you carry every day. It's the growth mindset, the positive mindset, the entrepreneurial mindset, and the challenge mindset, which are all growth type mindsets. In order for you to grow, you must first think you can grow, right? Now I know in life, nothing is easy because you are not easy, but you are worth the fight.
Check this out. Your growth mindset is powerful. It helps you see potential and rebound when you are set back. You've got to understand, when you allow your determination to kick in, you can't lose when you're going after what you want to achieve.
Now the next thing in your purpose is your drive. Most people don't make it in life because they are lazy. They take the lazy approach. When you look at a lazy person, you know, what do you see? They don't have nothing, right? It's because they're lazy. You have to have determination in driving in order to win in this thing called life, man. There was a quote that said, if you don't drive your business, you will be driven out of business. That's the same thing about life. If you don't drive your life, then you will be driven out of life. You will be sitting somewhere lacking the things you deserve because you didn't want to put in the effort. Don't do that to yourself. You are better than that. You are built different.
I have people right now who was jealous on how far I have come in life. I mean, people that are close to me. I was having a conversation one day with someone that was close to me. And out of nowhere, he said to me, you can't make all the money. And I was like, what? Because we wasn't even talking about money. Then he started talking about the kind of vehicle I drive. It blew me away. But he didn't understand what it took for me to live the life I have. I'm not rich or any of that. I just live comfortable. He doesn't understand, I packed up, moved away from my family and friends. I moved to five different cities within 10 years. I was going after the opportunities that were offered to me. I was by myself. I didn't know anybody in these places I moved to. And that was cool because it was about to grind to what I wanted for my life. At one point, I'd grind and work seven days a week for 14 months straight. I lived 20 minutes from the beach and didn't see it after living in this particular city for 14 months. I did all of that just to live comfortable. ]In life, you have to work and grind your butt on just to live comfortable.
But the crazy part about this day, this guy talked about how much money he thought I had and talked about the kind of vehicle I drove when he didn't even know what it took to get here. See, I understood that one day God was gonna bless me with a wife, kids and grandkids. When I was dating my beautiful wife, I went and had a house built with her becoming my wife on my mind. I wanted her to see that I've got her. I actually asdded up to this house that I knew she would love, even though I haven't even proposed to her yet.
Listen, I was working the plan that God had for my life. I had been grinding and giving up me for years for this one particular goal in my life. You've got to keep pushing in life. Don't let your life run you. You run your life. Take over, take control. And that's the only way you're going to achieve what you desire.
Now, when dealing with your purpose, you have to take care of your well-being. You have to understand that nobody's going to take care of you but you. You have to understand that your health is your real wealth. You have to take time for yourself if you want your life to be successful and do great things. It's not your job to be everything to everybody. You can't be what everybody wants you to be. The only person you should try to be is yourself. You should strive to be better than the person you were yesterday. Take good care of yourself with how you gain power. In order to achieve what you desire for your life, you have to train yourself. You have to train your body. You have to train your mind. You have to train everything about you. And remember to always stay positive. Your mental well-being is what's going to make the difference in your life. And whatever you do, know your value and your worth. Believe me, you are more valuable than you think. Also believe in the person that you want to be called.
I'm going to leave you with this. There are three things that you should notice on a daily basis. And that's what drives you, what you are grateful for, and what's not working. Remember, do what you love in life and never focus on the struggle. Focus on the progress. Believe in you.
